PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND STUDENTS AWARENESS OF THE EXISTING SUPPORT SYSTEM IN EDUCATION

Abstract:

Background Today's fast-changing world and developments in health care system have indirect or direct effects on communication ethics. More and more unethical situations are faced by health care workers in their professional work. Thus, it is important to address the ethical aspects more seriously already in the learning environment. Objective To describe students awareness on existing support system in education. Methods The methodology combines theoretical and empirical parts, semi-structured interviews. conducted with 47 students were analysed. Results Most respondents possess information on the existence support system in the college, but awareness on different services in the support system varies. Current support system has been available to all students who have needed it. Respondents mostly prefer to speak to their classmates, family and lecturers to resolve unethical situations. Conclusions The ethics support system in education needs to be further promoted among students to raise students awareness about it. Teachers should be prepared to counsel the students about unethical situations and current support system needs to be maintained in order to provide support to students in resolving unethical situations.
