DETERMINING THE TENDENCIES OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS TOWARDS USING INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIES IN COURSES

HAKAN KILINC, HAKAN ALTINPULLUK

Abstract:

This study was designed with a mixed-methods approach to analyze pre-service teachers' tendencies to use instructional technologies. The integration of technological tools into education is closely related not only to the availability of these tools but also to teachers' levels of access and pedagogical competence. In the quantitative dimension of the study, the “Tendency Scale for Using Instructional Technologies” developed by Günüç and Kuzu (2014) was administered as a pre-test and post-test; in the qualitative dimension, interviews were conducted regarding the experiences of pre-service teachers, and content analysis was performed. Findings indicate that pre-service teachers' levels of access to technology significantly influence their tendencies to adopt and use instructional technologies. The results emphasize that teacher education programs should be enriched with technological pedagogical content.
