POLITIC OF RELIGIOSITY AND THE RISE OF RADICALISM IN INDONESIA WITH SPECIFIC REFERENCE TO PAPUA

Abstract:

Debate over weather Indonesian state ideology should be Islam and apply sharia law or it should be secular and applied Pancasila as the weltanschauun not ended post independent. Even getting stronger followed by establishment of several Islamic base political parties political means and supported by some militant Muslim mass organizations has warned the country regarding on the rise of Muslim radicals groups who against Pancasila, and ignore the facts the Indonesia is multiethnic nation, and multi religious state under the slogan of Bhineka Tunggal Ika. Aceh has applied shariah law, some cities in Indonesia has also proclaimed the cities, as Serambi Mekkah under consideration of majority population is Islam. How about Papua in which Christian is the majority? Why they don’t? By employing constructivist’s paradigm, this paper has reveal that the phenomena can be both ideological and political resistance expressions which has crated religious tensions and friction in society. Claiming of public spaces in Papua for certain religion does not mean the civilians are fundamentally applied religious teaching in their life but more as political resistance against the state, which is claimed as a Muslim country.
