Abstract:
The objective of this study is to designate leisure benefits of individuals who actively or passively participated in recreational activities. Leisure benefits of 435 participants were determined by “Leisure Benefits Scale” which was developed by Ho (2008) and adapted into Turkish by Akgül and Ertüzün (2015); The Leisure Benefits Scale contains 24 items, which are expressed on a 5-point Likert scale. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed this 3-factor solution (confirmatory factor analysis, GFI=0.96, NFI=0.94, CFI=0.95, IFI 0.95, SRMR 0.05) In this study cronbach’s alpha coefficient values were found .93 and the 3 sub-dimensions ranged from 0.83 to 0.87. The sub- dimensions of the scale were compared with active and passive participation of the sample. No significant difference was found between active and passive participatants in social and sportive leisure activities. In addition, scores of active participants were found significantly higher than the scores of passive participants in art activities.
