Conference Tours

Free for conference participants.

The aim of our conference tours is to provide opportunity for informal networking, possibly creating partnership among the conference participants.

First conference tour: Padova and Bassano del Grappa
Wednesday, September 5

The bus leaves from Tronchetto parking place at 9.00 and from Viale Ancona in front of NH Laguna Palace Hotel - Mestre at 9.15.

Padova, an old city with a network of arcaded streets, is full of historic and artistic monuments. The most notable sight is the Basilica San Antonio from the 12th century. The bones of the Saint rest in a chapel richly ornamented with carved marble.
University of Padua, where Galileo Galilei was a lecturer, was founded in 1222. 
Visit Palazzo della Ragione from the 12th century, then pass to the nearby Piazza dei Signori with loggia Gran Guardia and Palazzo del Capitaniato with its great door from 1532.
One of the symbols of Padova is the Pratto della Valle, a large elliptical square. Nearby you can find Abbey of Santa Giustina.

From Padova we will continue our tour to Bassano del Grappa, where you can admire the famous wooden bridge Ponte degli Alpini, constructed in 1569 by Andrea Palladio.

Lunch and entrance fees are not included.

We will be back at around 6PM. The time of return is approximate and cannot be guaranteed.

Participants who registered for this conference tour will receive a tour voucher at the registration desk. 

Children under six years are not allowed on the tour.

Second conference tour: Verona and Lago di Garda
Friday, September 7

The bus leaves from Tronchetto parking place at 9.00 and from Viale Ancona in front of NH Laguna Palace Hotel - Mestre at 9.15.

Verona is one of the main tourist destinations and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is  famous for the Roman Arena completed around 30 AD. Medieval bridge Ponte Scaligero is from the 14th century. 
Visit Piazza Erbe with the fountain built in 1368. Then pass to the nearby Piazza dei Signori and admire the renaissance Loggia del Consiglio. The Verona Cathedral is remarkable, but the most interesting church in Verona is Basilica of San Zeno from the 12th century. 
You should not miss the famous tourist attraction - Casa di Giulietta with the Juliet´s balcony.

From Verona we will continue to Lago di Garda, the largest Italian lake surrounded by mountains. The scenery is just amazing.
